Of course, it all had to begin with a fundamental love of horses. Then came the compelling fascination with capturing the essence of individual horses on film; extraordinary and fleeting expressions that reveal an animal's manner, its inner nature, its very spirit.

Renowned equine photographer/videotographer, Susan McAdoo of Tobruk Farm in White Pine, Tennessee, now accomplishes this intricate feat on a regular basis by means of skill and sheer instinct. Her instincts were born of creativity; her skill was developed and honed over years of practice. Horse owners throughout the United States and Canada know this, and have employed Susan to professionally photograph or videotape their horses for magazine layouts, brochures and promotions. She is well-acquainted with what type of promotional material is required for advertising. Some people simply desire stunning photographic portraits of their beloved animals, horses, as well as family pets. Recently, images Susan recorded with her camera have appeared on the cover of Arabian Horse World Stallion Issue and the cover of the Arabian Horse Times’ annual calendar.

Susan understands horses. She knows how to relate to them. More than half her lifetime has been devoted to the breeding, training and showing of excellent Arabian horses. Her talent as a breeder has achieved worldwide acclaim with horses bred at Tobruk Farm going on to be shown nationally and internationally, winning multiple championships. Training and showing gave Susan keen insight into equine behavior. Day-in-day-out handling of horses has enabled her to gauge their personalities and sense their moods. That insight carries over to her photography work.
